Although we are just starting State Fiscal Year 2009, at KDOA we are already beginning to think about the 2010 budget.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the process, KDOA prepares a budget proposal to present to the Governor, who then makes her recommendations for the agency in the budget she presents to the Legislature.
In order to get as much information as possible on the needs and priorities for Kansas seniors, I hold public meetings to get comments and suggestions from our stakeholders to guide our thinking. Three such meetings are scheduled this month. The first will be Monday, July 7, in Topeka. The others will be Tuesday, July 8, in Hays and Wednesday, July 16, in Wichita. Kansans can participate in person or via teleconference.
This is going to be a challenging budget year. I look forward to meeting our stakeholders and hearing their ideas.
